We have been studying whale and dolphin acoustics for a number of years.  By using underwater hydrophone equipment during our survey cruises we are able to make underwater recordings, enabling us look at the acoustic behaviour of cetaceans and investigate the level of noise pollution in the area.  We have already successfully recorded sounds of harbour porpoises in Gairloch.
